This strip came to me while talking with the Oliver Brothers from Twxxd, during a podcast discussion I was having them. Brandon Oliver was talking about his collection, and for some reason I felt the need to ask if he counted Gestalts as one robot, or five (sometimes six).

But what is a Gestalt? Glad you asked. Gestalt is the concept of wholeness. What does that have to do with Transformers? Till all are one? Good guess, but no. Read on.

Part of the Transformer mythology are those rare robots that can combine into one larger robot. The most well known is Devastor, who was made up of 6 Constructicons. As a collector, gestalts create a tiny little point of confusion as far at counting. Does this robot counts as 1 large robot, or 5 individual robots? With three gestalts your collection could gain an extra 12 robots depending on how you counted it. I chose to count them as one, to keep my collection from seeming like it went way to overboard. But honestly, once you cross 200 robots you probably have gone overboard. I won’t even comment on how many Brandon from Twxxd has.

And for the record, my collection is currently in boxes stored away in Southern California. Where they shall sit for a very long time. Gestalts and all.
