Actually, we called it "looking it up on AltaVista". It was technically better than Google (google returns based on popularity, I'm not sure what AltaVista returned [originally] based on) and it's the basis for Yahoo's search engine, but the Yahoo engineers have changed the criteria to return results based on maximum frustration.
I may be being unfair. For all I know all the big search providers are being hampered by government regulations and if they return useful information you go on a government watch list. (I don't have any problem getting information about cute kittens. It's technical information that the search engines keep hiding from me.)
I don't know how I ever lived without a smart phone. Hell, in the grand scheme of things, it wasn't that long ago that I didn't have a cell phone at all. And a time when we didn't use the term Google to refer to an internet search. I wonder, if Google hadn't turned into such a powerhouse, if we might be calling it Yahooing.
HA! its true… we dont NEED to know anything any more. just google it!
I know. It's somewhat sad really. I try to keep from using google unless I need it as a reference. There is still something to be said about actually knowing something.
